Burn is about harvest and burning towards a becoming. It’s the end of a bright bold season that has lived well and burned to exhaustion. It is the beginning of a season for mellow geographies. Ultimately burn is a moment of transformation and rebirth.
Burn is a peak of exuberance and the remnants it leaves in its wake. What remains after a star burns so bright, a campfire blows through its biggest logs or a body lies down in rest? That soft, sweet fatigue one’s left with come August. On the heels of a big, bold, bright summer: 15-hour days, scorched skin and hardened feet from sandy wood decks.. all the while running away to the edge of the built.
How does an afterburn, or the becoming come about? The first cool evening on an August night, the first rain in September that evaporates as soon as it falls, the winds that blow cool for the first time in the season… how welcome are they.
Join us for our opening reception during First Friday on August 7, 2026 at 6pm to welcome the artists and their fantastic creative production.
